In case you haven’t heard by now, Girl Talk (aka Gregg Gillis) has released his new album Feed The Animals the Radiohead-way, allowing you to download and pay what you want for it. This follow up to Night Ripper is another excellent celebration of all things mainstream- pop, rap, and rock mashed up into one large alternative dance sound. Although completely sample based, Girl Talk never ceases to make these familiar tracks sound fresh in his unique remixing abilities.
I actually met dude last year when he came to the Grog Shop, and we went to the after party at some abandoned-warehouse-turned-gallery-space. A wild and random night exactly appropriate for this style of music:
Highsnobiety has a snippet about a high profile collaboration we just got in:
“As part of their Summer ’08 collection, In4mation also got together with their close friends from FiberOps and Irons to collaborate on a t-shirt. The t-shirt features the logos of all three brands, integrated into the graphic on the front. It comes in black and red and is now available online at UbiqRoN.”
As a follow up to Jared’s last post about our Urban Golf Experiment, here some more pics of us in action. What a riot! UGE was full of surprises and things did not go exactly as planned with security and all. Keeping things spontaneous and making things up as we went along really made yesterday’s outing a huge success. It was a perfect day in Cleveland and I have to admit that things started to get a little serious (competition). Enjoy the pics! Video will be coming soon. Thanks again Harbor Inn!
PS – We did not use real golf balls and definitely would not recommend doing so. Almost Golf Balls are the way to go.
My friend Jack just sent me a great link to a gallery of the best looking women spotted at different UEFA Euro 2008 games. I’ve put up some of my favs but you can check out the whole page here at Banned in Holloywood. European chicks are fine.
Oh yeah, and Croatia vs. Turkey kicks off at 2:45 today.
So last night, Jay, Steve, and myself all got into some urban golf shenanigans down in the flats. Joined by my good friends Ryan and Rafael and a couple of rounds of Stella Artois, the Urban Golf Experiment ended up being a huge success. We golfed off a bridge onto a AC unit for our first hole and got hassled by security guards twice. After that it was smooth sailing though, and the second hole was inside Cleveland’s oldest bar, The Harbor Inn. Here’s the pics of the first two holes, and Jay will follow up with pics and video a little later.
The new 10.Deep lookbook for Summer 2008 went less conceptual this time around, basically just shooting family and friends at a cookout/pool party wearing the new line. Simple enough, check out the garments in the lookbook here, and be on the lookout for new arrivals to the RoN and Beachwood stores.
The Austria-Switzerland Euro 2008 is in full swing and a very exciting match is about to take place between two Euro soccer (futbol) poweshouses: France and Italy. Gotta love the crazy enthusiasm for the sport across the pond; I don’t think anyone is working over there at the moment. Anyway, kickoff is at 2:45 and I am having a hard time sitting here (at Next Shaker) trying to get something done with all the excitement brewing. Little Italy sounds interesting at the moment
Just saw these cool 576 models up on Hypebeast. As with many shoe companies, New Balance is getting in to the Olympic spirit. These modes are celebrating the Chinese opera, where elaborate masks are worn as part of the story telling. Check them out.
FYI, we will have these dropping at Next in August.
