Choice Cuts #1

I’ve decided since I can’t make it in to Next Beachwood on a regular basis to update the in-store soundtrack that I’d instead bring my musical offerings to the blog. This is going to be a weekly offering of a few tracks for free to get you hip to new music from all different genres and time periods. They may be old, they may be new, and the stylings will range from indie rock to hip-hop, from electronic to soul and r&b. Anything I think you should know, and hopefully will enjoy. I accumulate a lot of music, so the focus here will be on variety and eclecticism.

Without further ado, the first weeks pics….

First up is Mayer Hawthorne, blue-eyed soul singer signed to Stones Throw records. Mayer has a unique voice and style, and the fact that Stones Throw signed him gives you reason to investigate further:

Last is something off the new Cool Kids x Don Cannon mixtape that you should be able to find at their website. Adam posted a track earlier. The Chi-Detroit duo kicks it old school but links up with the ATL DJ for great mix.
