An Emasculating Truth from Emasculating Truth on Vimeo.

In An Emasculating Truth, Oscar Boyson investigates what it takes to be a man in the 21st century. Statistics say male testosterone levels have been dropping 1% a year over the past 20 years, so Oscar made this documentary short to find out what could be causing it and what defines a “man”. The video is presented by Dockers and interviews some interesting characters such as Glenn O’brien.

I love LA, and every time I am out there, I have a hard time coming back home. So the next best thing for me to do is bring a little L.A. back with me. In this case, it is the up and coming brand by Chris Stamp, called Stampd’LA. Starting out in the custom shoe game, he has graduated into a full line brand. I really loved the Black Hi Numbered collection. Check it here, and at a our Coventry store in person.

Why I Wear What I Wear: Ronnie Alexander

Explanation from Adam: I feel like a large part of style is having a personal philosophy that guides you when you get dressed, or add to your wardrobe. Style is not just liking what you wear, but also, understanding why you like what you wear, and understanding that the clothes you wear can reflect the kind of person you are, or mood you are in.

So, as a new series for Ruleofnext I am going to be asking our customers: Why do you wear what you wear?

Why I wear what I wear: Ronnie Alexander’s answer

“Fashion is the epitome of self expression. Like paint to a canvas. I use my clothes to paint a picture of how I feel.”

The last few videos I posted have been funny, this is not. This video comes to from the band MGMT for there song, “Kids”. This video is crazy, its pretty much this infant being tortured by these crazy monsters. The song is really dope and the video has been out for some time. People have you been up in arms about this video saying that the infant was really scared the whole time, give it a watch and let me know what you guys think. If you dig this song check out there new CD Congratulations that comes out 4/13.

Wow! Thats all I could say after I heard Bria Davis singing while shopping at our Next Coventry location. Bria is an aspiring singer/songwriter who attends Cleveland School of Arts. Bria also impressed me with how professional she was at the age of 15 as she handed me her bussiness card. Her goal is to become an international performer in the arts of music and entertainment. I believe she has more then enough talent to achieve her goal. Just dont take my word, check out the video and see for yourself.

A look into Banksy’s Sketchbook

Here are some pages from the sketchbook of Banksy, famed UK graffiti artist. It shows that none of his ideas are half cooked- it all comes from a distinct idea that is developed before hitting the streets. The sketches play out almost like political cartoons or practical jokes, a key element to just about every statement and work of art Banksy creates.

Why I wear what I wear: Matt Licina’s answer

“I wear what I wear because its part of who I am. I am from Shaker Heights, the best heights. We have the most class and this shines through by what I wear. I don’t conform, unlike many Americans. I wear what I wear because it is who I am.”

“The Movado (watch) was a graduation present from the rents. My mom tells me not to wear it everyday, but I cant resist.”

Music Monday

Fashawn is a rapper out of Fresno, CA who’s recent album Boy Meets World has been getting a lot of play in my iTunes. It was produced by Exile, top notch producer of Blu’s Below the Heavens and solo effort Radio. This album shares the unique samples, soulful production, reality rap lyrics, and cohesiveness that those albums had, and I really recommend checking it out. Another track is posted after the jump.

The Denim Debate is a new blog with a great premise. Basically, the organizers got together 25+ guys and girls to document the process of wearing in their premium raw denim. The contributors come from varied walks of life: Bloggers, Writers, Musicians, Shopkeepers, Craftsman, Students, and Style Mavens, as well as the brands they are sporting. All of them are wearing a different jean, all of them are blogging a different experience. The reporting has just got underway so make sure you check in from time to time.

My only questions is, why didn’t they ask me to be a contributor? Ha ha…
