Cleveland’s West Side Skatepark Public Forum

I traveled to the West Side of Cleveland to attend a public discussion concerning the installation of a Grindline skatepark.

Here is what I learned:
1. Grindline has successfully created skate parks in loads of other cities.
2. The City of Cleveland’s representative didn’t have answers for the public’s questions. (Politics. Yes!)

3. The skaters in attendance want the park, want the park to have lights, and want it to be unsupervised.
4. Some of the residents of areas surrounding the possible site are worried about street conditions, noise, and graffiti.
5. Dogs were in attendance.

Who gives a shit about a skatepark that will be used by people that don’t even live in the city. Put it in Lakewood or something. Fuck a skatepark, build the Velodrome. Cleveland wants and needs money attracting construction projects that will bring visitors from other cities.

Cleveland needs revenue generating construction not a slab of concrete that will be used by people that won’t bring any sort of money to the city. Bring the velodrome, it will bring droves of people and even those out of state.

I think they are bringing the velodrome. Is it one or the other? Sounds like Cleveland wants both Velodrome and Skatepark. I wasn’t aware of a Velodrome’s out of state interest. I’m gonna try to cover some of the Velodrome’s activities.
