Freeway on Selector

Pitchfork.tv‘s new hip hop show has a simple premise. Take an emcee, present him with two lesser known beats, and let him select which beat to freestyle over. First installment was with the Clipse, and this one is with the Philly Freezer. I’d just like to add, the animation at the beginning is incredibly weak.

iPhone 4.0: Lost and Found

Someone at Apple probably lost their job today. Because yesterday, Gizmodo debuted images of a new, never-before-seen iPhone that they concluded was a 4.0 prototype. It was found months ahead of official release, apparently left at a bar in Redwood City. Gizmodo was just as skeptical as anyone, and went through rigorous testing to later conclude that this was the real deal. Pretty crazy. Check out more pics, videos, and a description of the new physical features over at Gizmodo.

Music Monday

This, to me, is why Nas will always be a greater emcee than Jay-Z. Nas hops on for a remix of “New York is Killing Me” from the critically acclaimed Gil-Scott Heron record I’m New Here. I couldn’t ever see Jay jumping on something like this and actually making it work, like Nas does here. Jay wouldn’t even bother with it artistically, while Nas is always pushing in new directions.

The Horse Drawn Hummer

Artist Jeremy Dean converted an 8 mile-per-gallon Hummer H2 into a horse drawn carriage. Very dope.

To me, this art represents a dramatic paradox between new and old world extravagance, not to mention a statement on the state of oil reliance in our country. I think pretty much anybody who drives a H2 in today’s budding Go-Green environment mentality, is an asshole. Straight up. They should have their car pimped-out, Jeremy Dean style while they sleep one night and be forced to roll around like this forever-more.

Nike chase from ilovedust on Vimeo.

Not really sure what this is advertising in particular, but its cool. I guess the message that wearing Nikes can give you the ability to save your entire city from giant attacking robots? The jury’s still out on that one.

Why I Wear What I Wear: Rashiyd Jackson

Explanation from Adam: I feel like a large part of style is having a personal philosophy that guides you when you get dressed, or add to your wardrobe. Style is not just liking what you wear, but also, understanding why you like what you wear, and understanding that the clothes you wear can reflect the kind of person you are, or mood you are in.

So, as a new series for Ruleofnext I am going to be asking our customers: Why do you wear what you wear?
Rashiyd

Why I wear what I wear: Rashiyd’s answer

“I wear what I wear because I love fashion. I don’t like to be a clone. I like 10 Deep, Crooks and Castles, Y&R, Stussy. I have been trying to get a gig in fashion, modeling or photography because I feel like I have the eye for it. I just like style. That’s me and fashion is who I am.”
