People are always talking about Living Large but I’d rather be “Livin’ XLARGE?”
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year, XLARGE clothing is continuing to make XLARGE moves. Their apparel is so much more than clothes, they represent a generation’s culture. Grown out of the synergy of 90′s California street cultures, XLARGE still represents the ideas and attitudes that inspired its origin 20 years ago.

It was November of 1991 when the first XLARGE store opened in LA. It was the result of the street cultures of skateboarding, art, and music emerging and thriving in the local LA scene. The concept behind the brand is simple. XLARGE is aimed at being “a representation of utilitarian wear as fashion as opposed to everyday wear.”

The name XLARGE is a combination of two phrases that drive home what the brand really represents. The first is “Generation X,” the second is “Live Large.” Generation X (the generation born between the 60′s and the mid 70′s) is the inspiration for the brand’s beginnings. Those Generation X ideas that came to life in the streets of LA in the early 90′s is what started it all. “Live Large” is the mindset when it come to the lifestyle of the streets. Kind of like today’s “Go Big or Go Home,” Generation X has always tried to “Live Large.” These phrases and ideas are combined to create XLARGE. Like I mentioned before; these clothes aren’t just clothes, they represent a generation’s ideals.
