Go Barefoot: Vibram FiveFingers

Vibram® FiveFingers® are a breakthrough in footwear that “replicate being barefoot and allow for the natural biomechanics of the foot to work.” Introduced in 2007, these iconic shoes have exploded worldwide as a healthy alternative to traditional running shoes, as well as a fashion statement for the most adventurous trendsetters.

Vibram S.p.A., located in Albizzate, Italy, has always been on the cutting edge of footwear. The company’s founder, Vitale Bramani, patented the infamous Vibram sole in the late 1930′s after six friends of his died in the Italian Alps due to faulty footwear. Vibram’s commercial innovations continue to this day and it will be interesting to see what comes next from their tinker tank.

It takes a lot of guts to introduce something as pure and ergonomically robust as FiveFingers®. Pretty clever trade name to boot.

Vibram FiveFingers are available at Next Beachwood and Coventry.

NEXT has Play Cloths

Play Cloths is a streetwear brand that brings me back to my youth.  Built from the idea that when we were little, we designated certain clothes to be worn for play, and clothes that were for school.  It takes references from childhood and has created bold graphics to express individuality.  It’s fresh ideas and youthful attitude gives Play Cloths a unique versatility.   This brand is relevant  on the beaches of Southern California or in the streets of Cleveland.  If only we still had that childhood mindset when imagination was endless and anything was achievable.  Those were the days.
