Adam Vs. David is a weekly feature on RuleofNext.com that pits Adam and David against each other in a test of picking their favorite new product at Next. The winner is chosen by you; just leave your pick in a comment on this post. The winner will be announced the following week. This week is the outerwear battle. Adam has chosen Penfield Stapleton jacket, and David picked 10 Deep High & Dry technical jacket.
Last week’s winner:
Adam & Edwin Denim.
David’s Pick: 10 Deep High & Dry Technical Jacket
Let’s be real about this: the weather has been shitty. I know, I know, it’s Cleveland in November, but that doesn’t take away the sting of the freezing rain and gusting wind. But do you know what helps… the High & Dry jacket from 10 Deep!

This is called a technical jacket for good reason. A 100% waterproof polyester body and taped seams and sealed zippers throughout mean no wind and no water getting inside. Riveted vents in the armpits means no getting sweaty on the inside either.

Oh, you need storage? DO YOU SEE THE POCKETS ON THIS JACKET?! You basically have body length size pockets on both sides, plus another pocket on the left sleeve (perfect size for an iPod or your phone or whatever).

Adjustable Velcro cuffs, adjustable hood with bungee, extra high collar… if you can’t deal with the options this jacket is bringing to the table, just hit that little “X” and close the window now because this jacket is all about options. You can wear this as a light addition to your fit on the weekend: unzipped, hood down, cuffs loose… or you can wear this as a serious cold weather shell: zipped up all the way to cover your neck completely, hood up and tightened so it doesn’t fall down in the wind like every other hood ever, and cuffs tightened so theres no wind or rain going up your sleeves either. BAM options!

On a completely superficial level, this jacket has just the right amount of visual detail. The woodland camo is the star here, and the wrist, back, and lower front logo hits complement it nicely. There’s plenty of reasons Complex made this jacket the #1 camo item you need to have this winter: complex.com/votefordavidand10deep

Adam’s Pick: Penfield Stapleton Coat
I like goose feathers and buttery leathers. Lucky for me, Penfield does too. This Stapleton coat is a classic cold-weather piece created from a fusion of “fine leather wares”, Teflon coated 60/40 cotton nylon blend, and 80% goose down/20% goose feathers.

Fashion, function, practicality and durability are the key elements in Penfield’s branding. They must be doing something right considering this year was their 35th year in business, and no one has ever been attacked by a bear while wearing Penfield. To be completely honest, when you purchase a Penfield coat they also supply you with a trained attack bear. That is why there logo looks like this:

If you don’t believe me about the bear, then shame on you, I’m a real nice guy. On a more serious note, the Penfield Stapleton coat is the real deal. The 60/40 cotton nylon blend is coated with teflon. Teflon makes the Stapleton coat water resistant, stain resistant, and bear resistant. The soft leather shoulder yoke makes it a quality style piece. The 80/20 down feather filling makes it a necessity for Ohio’s winter months.

One win last week. One win this week. One win next week. That’s a trifecta for Adam. “He’s on fire!”
